A cooked pizza with pepperoni, sausage, red onion, and basil sits on a wooden board. Surrounding the board are basil leaves, a jar of honey, pizza dough, sliced pepperoni, and flour on a white surface.
A savory-sweet house favorite featuring melty mozzarella, pepperoni, savory Italian sausage, red onion, fresh basil, freshly grated parmesan cheese, and a signature honey drizzle. It's got the flavor you didn’t know you needed.

The Queen Bee Pizza

Equipment

  • 1 Pizza stone If you're baking in a household kitchen oven
  • 1 Pizza oven If you're baking in a pizza oven (I use an Ooni Karu 16)

Ingredients

Dough

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella cubed, can use shredded mozzarella if you prefer
  • 4 oz Italian sausage cooked and crumbled
  • 1/4 small red onion thinly sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves

Finishing Touches

  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp parmesan cheese freshly grated

Instructions

  1. Stretch your dough into a 10-inch to 12-inch round pie on a lightly floured surface.
A round, uncooked pizza dough sits on a white surface, surrounded by a ring of yellow cornmeal. The dough has visible dimples and an uneven edge.
  2. Spread the sauce evenly over the base, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges.
  3. Top with mozzarella, sausage, and red onion.
A raw Queen Bee Pizza with tomato sauce, pepperoni, sausage, mozzarella cheese, and red onion slices sits on a metal pizza peel. Nearby are a dough ball, scattered semolina, and a cup of pepperoni slices.

Oven Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 500°F (or as hot as your oven goes), and place a pizza stone or steel inside to heat.
  2. Bake for 8–12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.

Pizza Oven Method

  1. Preheat your pizza oven as hot as your oven goes for about 30 minutes to ensure the stone is hot enough to crisp up the bottom of the pizza.
  2. When you're ready to cook the pizza, turn the heat down to the lowest setting and slide in the pizza.
  3. Bake until the first edge starts to brown (usually only 30-45 seconds). Then rotate the pizza 180 degrees and cook the opposite side until it browns (another 30-45 seconds). Rotate 90 degrees the other side (about 30 seconds) and finally another 180 degrees the cook the final side (about 30 seconds).

Add the finishing touches

  1. Remove from the oven and drizzle generously with honey. Garnish with fresh basil and freshly grated parmesan.
A hand drizzles honey over a Queen Bee Pizza topped with pepperoni, sausage, red onions, and cheese on a wooden board. Pizza ingredients and dough are visible nearby on the white surface.
  2. Slice and serve immediately.
